Boxing in Video Games

Boxing is an all time entertainer in which people will even stay up late at night to get the results. Depending upon the players who combat, the match can be interesting or boring. To box, one has to possess the boxing talents along with the defending skills. A normal person like you and me could not get into the bout and challenge the opponent all of a sudden. To satiate the desires of such normal people, we have the same game of boxing in video games. Technology is so advanced that gone are the days when we sit and play video games alone! We prefer to have more fun and real life games like boxing and here are just a few of them.

‘Mike Tyson’s Punch Out!!’ is one of the greatest games and considered to be the best too. Though this might seem to be a little outdated, it is still the iconic game. Speaking about Ready 2 Rumble Boxing game this game too has so many fans! The game gets to an interesting level as the word ‘Rumble’ gets spelled out in the player’s screen and the player gets more powerful. Every time the player taunts his or her opponent, the word begins to get spelled and finally reaches the last stage, when the word starts to smoke. Now you, the player could give just a single punch that is enough for your victory.

Last but not the least, Fight Night Round 4 is yet another game that has a special place in the hearts of the game lovers and it was developed by the EA Sports. This game is considered to have the best game rankings and has many featured boxers like Tyson Ali and more! Playing with real time boxers would give even more thrill for these games and being available in single-player and multi-player mode makes this game all the more fascinating.

Boxing and Karate

When we decide to learn some new art, it would always be better to find one or more alternates, discuss over the pros and cons of each and then choose the best. If we consider Boxing and Karate, both the martial arts have their own benefits and hardships that a person has to analyze before choosing between both. Let us consider boxing. Here, the boxer is taught to use only his head and hands to attack his opponent. Whereas in karate, various parts of the body such as knees, feet, fists and elbows are used to defeat the opponent.

However, boxing scores out more in the aspect it makes one more agile. Learning karate gives more of self confidence, as it is an essential art that is used to safeguard ourselves in times of danger too. But when compared to boxing, in karate, the defending skills are too low that makes a boxer strong. Boxing would be more preferable if you wish to get faster footwork and power shots. Whereas, one could vote for karate in case he or she is willing to get physical and mental balance that in turn builds confidence within him or her.

Both Boxing and Karate have their own set of pros and cons!

Both Boxing and Karate have their own set of pros and cons!

On the outset, karate has more of gymnastics embedded in it while boxing gives more importance for muscular power, the hand muscles in particular. Just for the sake the boxers use their hands alone it would not mean that it is easy as boxing is equally challenging and hard. Scrutinizing over the different aspects of karate and boxer, getting to a conclusion is not that easy as both are beneficial for health and other aspects. It purely depends on one’s attitude and love for the art to absorb its plus and minuses as such!

Three Awesome Boxing Moves

While learning the art of pugilism, moves and techniques to encounter the attacks of the opponent form an inevitable part right from the beginning. There are so many moves that are really impressive and just a three of them are detailed below. The “Dempsey Roll & Gazelle Punch” could be said to be the best of all, and just as their name suggests, these moves were correspondingly invented by Jack Dempsey and Floyd Patterson. Traditional boxers consider these two moves to be different but only when both get the combination, the true valor of the move is exhibited. Mike Tyson mastered this move that starts with crouching one’s head, followed by lowering the shoulders before rising up and repeating it ‘in a figure eight motion’, while in Gazelle Punch, the boxer would leap from a bent position to give a punch for his opponent. This makes it clear that both the moves should follow one after another to get the desired result.

The next irksome boxing move that needs a special mention is the ‘Heads and hooks’. Normally, in boxing, head butting is used to attack opponent, but this move, when well mastered, enables the fighter to push the opponent with his head without actually looking up. This clearly shows that only masters of boxing could be talented enough to use the tucked head as a shield against the opponent’s punches. As a result, the opponent could not do upper cut to the boxer and would be forced to go for lower punches that could be defended easily. Not many, only a few like Tim Bradley and Lamont Peterson for an example are masters of this move. ‘Body drop Feint’ is yet a smart boxing move that is actually not performed to attack the opponent but to distract him just as any feints would do.

There are so many masterly moves in boxing!

There are so many masterly moves in boxing!

Among the different feints, body drop could be tactically used, where the boxer drops down his body, by bending the knee as it would easily distract the opponent thereby allowing the boxer to know as how the other is about to react to the next move and strategically change his attacking style. Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, the boxers with rapid hand speed are real masters of this technique.
