Known for his perilous gymnastic acts and terrific kung fu stunts, Jackie Chan was born in Hong-Kong on April 7th 1954. This 58 year-old kung fu master is an actor, stuntman, and director, and he has a great sense of humor.
Jackie Chan brought martial arts movies into American mainstream cinema. Since 1960, Chan has worked in more than 100 films focusing on innovative martial arts techniques supported by off the cuff weapons.
During his early life, Chan spent his formative years on the French Consul’s residential grounds in Hong Kong, because his parents were employed by the Consul. Chan also attended the China Drama Academy in 1960 and trained in acrobatics and martial arts.
Jackie Chan’s film career was initiated in 1976 by Willie Chan, a Hong Kong based film producer. Willie was impressed by Jackie’s martial arts skills and stuntman abilities. After two years of struggling, Jackie Chan got his first breakthrough role in 1978 with Snake In the Eagle’s Shadow.
In the 1980’s, Chan led the creation of the action-comedy genre and with immense confidence and the support of his fans, he finally succeeded in getting a foothold in North America in 1995.
Chan received fame and accolades in Holly wood for his stints with Sylvester Stallone and other famed Hollywood action stars. His roles in films like Rush Hour, The Tuxedo, and the unforgettable The Rumble in the Bronx endeared Chan to the American populace.
