Having a Bad Day? These Bad Dancers Make it Better

Dance is all about having and sharing the fun by moving our body. It has the psychological effect of making the viewers elated too. That is why dance is an alluring performing art. A bad dance that collapses all the movements could irritate a good dancer and make him or her feel it as an insult to his or her art. But it’s not necessary that all the dance movements should cause you to get angry – they could turn out to be hilarious.

Just watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3lclZIf3sI. One could see the hilarious dance of a police officer in a store and his obscure movements! Might be he would have thought he is all alone in that section giving full freedom to his emotions, hands and legs! But the candid camera has done its duty and now the police officer could not have dreamed that he would have become so popular!

Yet another bad dance video compilation is:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwVa06LSlxk! Of course no one could reject these as ‘bad dance movements.’ All these dancers have tried their best to be extraordinary in their performance, but some of their flops have made us to have a hearty laugh instead of making us say ‘wow.’
Last but not  least, this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbD-r7Pe0tQ shows how the pole has played its part in making the dance a failure! Practically, there is no one in any of these videos who we would call a  bad dancer, but the situations in their dance bring on some good laughs. Not an issue, as even then, these dance videos bring a smile in our faces, making our bad day better.

This style of dance is also worth mentioning.

Dance Lessons NYC: Check Out The Techno Viking!

If you’ve been taking Dance Lessons in NYC, you may have seen the classic Youtube meme The Techno Viking, if not, you can watch the iconic clip above. The meme is based on an experimental video clip from the F**kparade in Berlin in 2000. The footage is by Matthias Fritsch and was published to the internet in 2001 as part of an art project intended to confuse the idea of whether our actions are staged or not.

When the video was uploaded to YouTube in 2007, it went viral and in late September, it was getting over one million views each day. In a six month period, the video was viewed by more than ten million people. The Techno Viking now has a page on the encyclopedia of internet culture, Know Your Meme.

There are also a number of parody videos and adaptations of the video where the Techno Viking is made to dance to other musical styles including dub step. The way that people reacted to his piece led Matthias Fritsch to give a series of lectures on public reception to his film. His next art project Music from the Masses was inspired his experience with the Techno Viking project.

Tutoring Lessons in NYC: Use YouTube to Your Teaching Advantage

With the tutoring lessons in NYC incorporating more and more digital alternatives to real-time teaching, education has come to a point where we have to embrace the Web as a teaching tool, not a hinderance on our potential. The Internet is world-wide for a reason: its possibilities are endless, along with the content that that infinity brings with it. And what better place to search across the spectrum than YouTube; the video service that is used by millions of people every minutes.

Here at HeyKiki, we put together a few of our favorite videos on the site that are awesomely educational. Check them out:

1. Stephen Fry on Kinetic Typography: Have you ever heard of Stephen Fry? The English prodigy is an actor, an intellect, a linguist, a philosopher, a writer and… a lot of other titles. In this video, he explains the problems with the English language and those who use it, using kinetic typography, which is the act of bringing sound to words and being able to hear language. Needless to say, Stephen Fry knows his stuff.

2. Empires of the World: What do you get when you put “Eye of the Tiger” – the theme song of Rocky – to a 3-minute presentation of the rise and fall of the world’s greatest empires? This.

3. The YouTube Education Channel: Compiling anything and everything that has some sort of historical or educational value, YouTube has made a one-stop source for those looking to learn on the website, not simply look at cute cat videos. From lectures from MIT about economics to talks on the origins of the Universe, it seems as if they have achieved it quite well.

4. The TED Talks Channel: Where to even start with TED Talks? This little series started a few years back and sought to offer the greatest thinkers mankind has a few minutes to express themselves on the Web. Now, it is a channel of worldwide acclaim. And for good reason.

There is nothing like a good YouTube video, especially when it’s not only entertaining but helpful for your tutoring lessons in NYC. There’s much more to discover; start exploring/surfing.

Meet the Chatroulette Piano Improvisation Dude

Chatroulette Piano Improvisation Guy

Chatroulette Piano Improvisation Guy

Back in March, 2010, a self-taught musician made a video of himself demonstrating his piano skills on a quirky website called ChatRoulette. The video was uploaded to YouTube on March 11, 2010. A week later, it had already been viewed more than 1.3 million times; which means more than 100,000 thousand people coming to watch it every day. The pianist later became famous as “the ChatRoulette improvisation guy” and that’s how many know him even today. Here is the video:

In the video, an unknown pianist donning a green hoodie is playing the piano and singing whatever he sees in front of him. After a couple of minutes he shows so much confidence that he begins to ask other users to tell him what to play, and he plays that for them. All this gets him plenty of thumbs up. He will later get lots of praise from YouTube viewers too; many of whom don’t even know his name. So who is this mystery guy?

Benjamin Scott Folds was born on 12 September, 1966 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina

Benjamin Scott Folds was born on 12 September, 1966 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina

The unknown pianist in video is named Benjamin Scott Folds. He was born on 12 September, 1966 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He is currently married to Fleur Folds, who is his fourth wife. He lives with his wife and two children in his home state where he teaches himself the piano. He is an autodidact who learned to play the piano himself.

Folds worked as a drummer for some time Nashville and then decided to come back to North Carolina. There he formed a band with Darren Jessee and Robert Sledge. The trio released an album together. It wasn’t a success. So they came up with another album Whatever and Ever, Amen which established them in the music industry. After releasing another album Folds decided to go solo. His first solo album was Rockin’ the Suburbs.

If you want to learn more about playing the piano, we can help! If you’re in the New York City area, you can find a great instructor with HeyKiki! If you can already play the piano, and you’re looking for someone to practice with, try posting a practice buddy request on our site.

If you’re looking for a new hobby or you just aren’t interested in the piano, we have lots of other classes available too.

More Cute Animals Playing Piano

It turns out dogs and cats are not the only gifted ones. Other animals can play the piano too. Even though you can’t expect them to reproduce Beethoven’s symphonies or Mozart’s ‘Baroque’ or ‘string quartets’ you can be assured of quality entertainment.

A Talented Rat playing Piano

Rats: Don’t be fooled by the size of these pesky little animals, they’re quite talented. This one shows just how smart he is by practicing on an instrument his own size:

Parrots: Parrots have amused generations through their unsurpassed (Homo Sapiens not included) ability to imitate language. These birds aren’t only good imitators of sound; they can ride small bicycles, solve puzzles and can even do math. Now it’s time to add the ability to play the piano to that list.

In case you are wondering how parrots could play the piano when they don’t have hands, then watch at this video:

A Pianist Parrot

Cupids: These cut little birds are not only messengers of love; they can also play the piano (if one is made for their size).

Here is a white cupid perched on its seat playing a little piano using its beak:

This is not an exhaustive list of animals that can play the piano. There are many more out there. Theoretically there is nothing to hold back dolphins, chimpanzees, orangutans, and other intelligent mammals from learning to play the piano. And it’s only a matter of time before we hear from people teaching these and other animals piano playing.
